Senior Sales Manager - UK & Ireland

North East, UK (Option of home office)

Our client is a £multi-million global food ingredients manufacturer with several sites located globally; founded nearly 40 years ago this company has grown significantly through organic market growth and various acquisitions. At present the business has a turnover in excess of $160milllion and employs more than 150 full time staff.

The UK Sales Manager is a key party of the business across EMEA , the current incumbent of the role has been doing significantly well and has been a key member of this team over recent years. The client sees significant room for growth in the foodservice market and therefore experience selling into this area of the market would be advantageous, yet not essential.

The role reports directly into the EMEA Sales Director.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop & agree budget with EMEA Sales Director to create plan to achieve budget.

2. Build and maintain successful customer and channel relationships identifying opportunities and drive achievement of the business plan. Show solid and sustainable growth.

  • Communication with customers and distributors.
  • Engage in a hands-on approach, visiting clients and potential clients where necessary.
  • With the EMEA Sales Director, provide strategic insight and channel knowledge across the whole
  • Food Manufacturing sector within your territory.
  • Interpret strategy in order to produce, implement & deliver customer and Channel business plans and targets accordingly.
  • Manage existing broker and distributor networks to ensure optimum efficiency and delivery on agreed targets.
  • Attend key exhibitions in your area, while exhibiting or visiting

3. Provide constant transparency of activities through inter-department liaison (i.e. Customer Services, R&D, Supply-Chain, Production, etc.).

  • Liaise with R&D to ensure products develop in line with customer requirements and needs.
  • Identify all applications and product areas where products & capabilities can be used and overlap with customer opportunities.

4. Provide accurate sales reporting, follow margins and contracts.

  • Manage margins in line with company expectations.
  • Negotiate customer contracts and continuously monitor them to ensure all parameters are met and deviations resolved.
  • Maintain Customer Relationship Management software accuracy, by logging opportunities as they arise and until completion.
  • Reporting data and KPI’s for monthly reporting.
  • Gain forecast information from customer.
  • Identify patterns in orders and demand from customers.

  • Excellent commercial, negotiating and persuasion skills.
  • Minimum 5 years within the B2B food-industry.
  • Independent, take responsibility, loyal, and able to work under pressure. Collaboration with other departments in order to achieve own and company goals.
  • Someone with some food industry sales knowledge is essential.

    £50,0000 - £60,000 Basic salary + 15% bonus
