Lead Project Engineer

We are working with an exciting early-stage business called Libertine who are developing new linear motor generator technologies for power generation, energy storage, and waste heat recovery applications. 

Libertine’s ‘Linear Power Systems’ technologies provide substantial efficiency gains in power generation and waste heat recovery applications, generating around a third more power than today’s technologies. 

Libertine have recently secured investment to fully commercialise their technology and GrassGreener Group™ have been exclusively engaged to establish and recruit their technical team, consisting of Lead Project Engineers, CAD Engineers, and Build Technicians.

The Role:

The ‘Lead Project Engineer’ will be responsible for leading multi-disciplinary engineering projects as part of the development and validation of Libertine’s in-house technology solutions for power and motion control.   


  • You will lead the delivery of a project(s) to test and validate elements of Libertine’s power and control solutions
  • Develop project specifications, technical studies, preparing cost estimates
  • Identify engineering problems and ensure solutions are feasible and can be implemented
  • Monitor and review deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements and initiate appropriate corrective action when needed
  • Support the CTO and Head of Design – Power & Control in the delivery of the technology roadmap for successive generations of power and control platforms
  • Liaison with external subcontract resource and technology vendors, deliverables review and integration with internally developed technologies


  • 3-5 years experience in power electronics and/or motion control
  • Experience managing complex technology development projects with electro-mechanical focus
  • Leading teams of 2+ CAD / simulation / test engineers / build technicians
  • Innovate UK, EPSRC, or Horizon 2020 project experience will be beneficial
  • 2:1 or first in BEng or equivalent electrical, electronics, mechanical engineering or similar
  • Chartered engineer, or working towards  (Libertine happy to support)


  • Experience of CAD packages  (Siemens NX preferable)
  • Familiarity with simulation and control development toolsets e.g.
    • NI Labview & CompactRIo (CRIO)
    • Matlab-Simulink
