After completing the National Three Peaks challenge in 2013, raising almost £1000 for charity in the process, GrassGreener Group’s marketing manager, David Congreave, is proving himself a glutton for punishment by taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge in May 2014.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks is a circular walk in the Yorkshire Dales taking in the peaks of Pen-y-ghent (2277ft), Whernside (2415ft) and Ingleborough (2372ft).
Although the overall elevation is lower than the National Three Peaks, the walking distance is very similar (around 24 miles) and the goal is to complete the entire route in under 12 hours. And whereas the National Three Peaks challenge affords the opportunity to rest in a vehicle while driving to the next mountain, the Yorkshire Three Peaks is one long, unbroken walk.
When asked to comment on his latest walking challenge, David said, “It’s hard enough writing about myself in the third person without trying to pretend to interview myself; please let me finish writing this article so I can get back to work. Simon on the Streets are a great charity by the way. Please give generously.”
David is attempting the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge with a group of walkers, led by KutaOutdoors, all raising money for Simon on the Streets, a charity committed to helping the long-term homeless in Leeds and the surrounding areas.
