An opportunity has arisen for an Area Sales Manager for the North of the UK, selling speciality chemicals primarily into the coatings and plastics business lines, and also adhesives and polymers.
Our client is a well-established chemical distributor, with a healthy portfolio of existing customers and turnover. The role will be a mixture of maintaining current business, and actively seeking to grow sales.
A technical or technical sales background is desirable; the ideal candidate will be able to converse technically and engage in ‘solution selling’ where required, establishing dialogues with customers to identify their technical issues and needs, and meeting these with existing and new products as appropriate.
The role requires a driven yet adaptable individual who enjoys taking a self-managing and proactive approach while being equally willing to participate in wider company strategy, coordinating with the UK Sales Manager and other team members. A high degree of autonomy and organisation in managing multiple accounts simultaneously is essential. This opportunity will particularly suit a sociable and collaborative individual who will enjoy sharing information, and communicating, liaising, and negotiating both internally and externally using appropriate methods, to facilitate the development of profitable business and sustainable relationships. Other key vital functions will include maintaining business functionality and ensuring sustainable growth via monitoring and regular reporting, in accordance with company procedures.
The role will be home based, with travel within the region and occasionally to other regions as required.
